Today,
Sydney speedway showman ‘Rocket’ Rod Bowen joined the
SSS as an official sponsor with Rod Bowen’s Prestige
Smash Repairs Blacktown supplying a $200 per round
incentive for competitors to take out the tough SSS Pole
Shuffle.
Well known across Australia for the immaculate
presentation of his black and gold #75 Speedcars and
Sprintcars in years past, the hard-charging racer has a
number of accolades to his name including being named
the 97/98 Speedcar Super Series Champion in his final
season!
Despite his son Roddy Bell-Bowen now taking on the
Sprintcar brigade at TPCR, the Rocket’s heart still lies
with the Mighty Midgets with Rod Bowen’s Prestige Smash
Repairs sponsoring not only the Speedcar Super Series
but the Australian Speedcar Championship at TPCR in
February 2006. Rod has confirmed he will also make it to
selected rounds when son Roddy isn’t competing locally
so he can check out the
SSS
action first hand.
“We can’t tell you how pleased we are for Rod Bowen’s
Prestige Smash Repairs to be onboard with the Speedcar
Super Series” said series Director Ken Jenkins. “Rod was
a crowd favourite during his SSS reign and continues to
be a passionate supporter of Speedcars. It’s great he’s
returned to the SSS fold; this time as a sponsor”.
Rod Bowen’s Prestige Smash Repairs is based on the
corner of Sunnyholt & Bessemer St Blacktown and is a
recommended repairer for both Suncorp and GIO.
If you know how good Rod’s race cars looked, imagine the
work that rolls out of his workshop!
