The
flights are booked and the spanners ready as American
Midget chargers Brad Kuhn, Davey Ray, Tony Elliott and
Jerry Coons Jnr prepare to rumble down under with the
Speedcar Super Series and Speedcar Association of NSW!
After reading about the Speedcar Super Series online,
the US National Midget Driver of the Year Brad Kuhn
contacted local Sydney racers and will now be equipped
with a brand new Breka machine from the Mike Rinkin
stable in NSW. With ten feature wins to his name
throughout this years US Midget season, Kuhn is looking
forward making a big impact in his first trip to
Australia competing at the honoured Champion of
Champions, SSS Round 4, and the Australian Speedcar
Championship at TPCR!
"I've had an excellent year in America and hope to
continue my success in Australia" said Kuhn when
discussing his travel plans. "I can hardly wait to take
in some Aussie culture, and see the sights".
Jerry Coons Jnr lands in Sydney on the 28th of
January... to race the same night at TPCR in the
honoured Champion of Champions event! Making a welcome
return to the Australian Speedcar scene, the 05
Belleville Midget Nationals winner will steer the
Stealth/Mopar #N7 machine normally driven by Sydney star
Mark Cooper. Cooper, who announced his replacement for
the 65th running of the Australian Speedcar
Championship, SSS Round 4 and Champion of Champion's
events at the Speedcar Super Series launch, has
dedicated his team and equipment to the Arizona
hard-charger and is looking forward to working with
Coons Jnr for a win.
"I've stepped out of my car as we wanted to give Jerry
the best equipment we had" said Cooper recently. "I've
been offered other cars to race myself since but I'd
rather be in there helping the team with the car and
giving Jerry the optional chance on the track".
Tony Elliott will be returning to Australia with the
Seamount Racing Team based in Auckland joining team
mates Michael Pickens and Adam Clarke. An ex-Australian
and NSW Speedcar Champion, Elliott has 200+ feature wins
to his name, and will likely be at the front of the pack
once again in Australia. Elliott will contest the bulk
of Speedcar events around title time.
Fellow countryman Davey Ray will be racing in New
Zealand before coming over to Australia with the Hawk
Team. An impressive force when driving at Western
Springs New Zealand last season, Ray has gone from
strength to strength this year and is looking forward to
mixing it up with the locals on his first tour in
Australia. Ray will contest the SSS round 4 and
Australian Title the following week at TPCR, plus SSS
round 5 at Mildura and schedule permitting, round six at
Speedway City Adelaide!
