With nominations opening
for the Speedcar Super Series only a week ago, drivers
are signing on for what looks to be one of the best
series’ to date. The first nomination sees a rookie
Midget campaigner from Western Australia joining the
07/08 tour; Brett Matherson!
Recording an impressive history in the NSW GP Midget
division including multiple podium placings in both the
Australian and NSW Titles before moving west to Perth,
Brett is joining the series in his new Spike/Brayton
Gaerte machinery.
“I’m looking forward to hitting the road on the SSS and
gaining valuable track time and experience” says an
eager Matherson on confirming his involvement. “The only
way I can do that is by racing with the best at a
variety of tracks, which will give me the experience to
adapt quickly to the constant changing
conditions that is speedway racing."
“With our main sponsor MCS Technology becoming naming
right sponsor of the SSS Pole Shuffle this year, we
wanted to be on the series too. We’ve invested a lot of
money including a new spike chassis, but without the
ongoing assistance from my brother Scott and Mark Cooper
from American Tire & Racing Services this wouldn’t be
possible, as they helping to co-ordinate my efforts on
the East coast”.
Brett is planning on debuting his new ride at the
opening Speedcar race meeting at Sydney’s TPCR on
October 13th in preparation for the SSS opening round on
November 3rd.
“I must say a special thank you to Robert Marfia from
the US as he has played a big part in supplying us with
our fresh Brayton Gaerte and arranging the air shipment
overnight including an emergency run to the Albuquerque
International Airport (some 45 minutes from his
workshop) to allow us to make the new PCR season to sort
out any teething issues before the SSS on Nov 3rd."
“US-based Blake Robertson has been invaluable by
providing parts at such short notice which will enable
us to have the car available by October 13th. I can’t
thank BR Motorsports and our other sponsors MCS
Technology, American Tires & Racing Services, and The
Speedway Shop enough for their support.
“At the end of the day, the SSS is our national series
and that’s where I want to be”.
Watch for Brett on the 07-08 Speedcar Super Series which
kicks off at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on
November 3rd! |
