NSR PR
With rousing cheers from the impressed crowd after another
challenging bout in the NSW Speedcar division, Nathan Smee tore
across the finish line last Saturday night to capture his second
2006-2007 "A" Main Feature win at Tyrepower Parramatta City
Raceway.
Smee took to the highline in his first heat race sweeping around
the outside within the opening laps. Starting in position 7 and
skilfully chasing the front runners, Smee was on the charge
before narrowly missing a spinning car which gently rolled in
turn four. As the race restarted with the Gleeman Truck Parts 6
machine now in 5th, Nathan was determined to progress further
forward! Out braking another racer down low entering turn 3,
Smee shot into 4th before claiming 3rd place only a lap later as
the chequers flew.
Coming out of 8th position in his next eight lap
heat, Nathan again headed up track; daring to battle the
highline before slipping low to grab 3rd under a wide
running car with 7 laps remaining. As the leader ran high and
re-took to the racing line, a skirmish began for second; Smee
and his fellow racer fighting for the desired position.
Utilising the entire race track, Nathan pulled ahead securing a
2nd place result for Nathan Smee Racing.
At the drop of the green in the twenty lap Speedcar main event,
the Dominator Engines Fontana was on the move! Heading into turn
one, Nathan screamed to the outside picking off positions moving
from 10th to 6th on the opening lap. With
a posse of Speedcars swarming around him, Smee dove down track,
sweeping under his competition into turn one to capture 3rd.
Driving smoothly on the highline with 18 laps remaining, Smee
made inroads on second; tailing the back of a car before sliding
high in turn 4 and into 2nd.

As the first three cars began to distance themselves from the
bulk of the pack, Smee began to hone in on the race leader as he
too came under attack for 2nd. Staying cool under pressure, Smee
maintained his spot and set out to challenge the low running
leader. With 9 short laps remaining, the duo encountered lapped
traffic forcing Nathan to weave from high to low to keep on the
tail of the leading machine. Coming out of the traffic, Smee
moved up track and shot into turn 1 capturing the lead with 7
laps remaining.
With laps quickly diminishing from the board, a new battle arose
as Smee lost the lead heading into turn 3. Diving low on the
hard running car the following corner; Nathan reclaimed his
number one position out of turn 4 with 2 short laps left on the
board. Moving back to his highline, Smee crossed the line in
first place, securing his second feature win for the season and
in doing so, added to Australian Speedcar history books. Fontana
Engines are now equal first as the most winning engine at
Parramatta City Raceway!
Crossing the line first in the flag to flag 20 lap race, Nathan;
a proud winner and the only driver to win two feature races in
the current club and track championship; took to the podium
after the race meeting thanking those who have supported his
racing; the fantastic NSR sponsors and crew.
Nathan Smee Racing would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas
before returning to Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway December
26 for the Boxing Day race meeting. Remember to head to the pits
and check out Speedcar 6!
