After a second place finish only one week earlier, the Australian Speedcar Championship was the next challenge for Nathan Smee Racing with the two night show being held at Charlton Raceway, Toowoomba QLD.

An event structured with three heats on Friday night and one heat plus features on Saturday, Nathan began his campaign earning points for the feature where the next Australian Champion would be determined. Starting from position 6 in his first heat, Smee shot to the outside driving hard into the first corner. Moving up to fifth on the opening lap and switching to the low line, Nathan tailed the car now in fourth position. Utilising each racing line over the next series of laps, Speedcar 6 shot low and under out of turn four with Nathan crossing the finish line in fourth position.

A third place starting grid for the next heat, Nathan had progressed to second out of turn three on the opening lap. Moving to the tail of the race leader, Nathan moved high and low to make the pass for the lead. Applying continuous pressure throughout turn four and down the main straight, a last dash to the chequers was underway with Smee jumping to the outside on the corner exit. Unable to make the pass on the last lap, NSR captured a second place finish for heat number 2.

The third heat was soon underway with the team again out of position number 6 on the race start. Passing cars at the drop of the green, Smee took to the outside heading into turn three. Gaining ground on the front runners and looking to progress forward, he stayed mid track until problems arose! As a car spun and began to roll mid turn three and four, Nathan, with nowhere to go, tagged the rolling cars left rear tyre sending the 6 Kingsfeld Excavations stealth upside down. Landing hard although the right way up, Nathan was out of the heat race as the car was lifted and towed back to the pits for repairs.

Returning to the track for night two, it wasn't to be for Nathan Smee Racing. Pulling out of the first heat and unable to complete the first of three feature races, the team were out for the night with ignition problems. A tough and disappointing Australian Speedcar Championship for the team but extend their congratulations to the top four place getters: Jerry Coons Jnr (USA), Mark Brown (NSW), Dene McAllan (WA) and Davey Ray (USA).

Nathan Smee Racing return to their home track this Saturday night at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway for the hotly contested Champion of Champions race meeting; a track where Nathan has captured 3 feature victories this season. With majority of the Speedcar Championship field expected to compete including Americans Davey Ray and Jerry Coons Jnr, this is a meeting not to be missed! Remember to head to the pits, meet Nathan, the team and check out Speedcar number 6!
