The NSR race team returned to the race track last Saturday night running the traditional red coloured Terry King Stealth #6. Not only were the team back to compete in the second last show of the season, they were proud to showcase their new major sponsor; United Oil.

Familiar with the motor-racing industry, Nathan Smee Racing is now added to an illustrious list of Australian United Oil representatives including Fujitsu V8 Supercar driver; Brett Hobson. Specialising in the manufacturing, product development and marketing of oils and lubricants for automotive, industrial, marine, metal working and specialty applications; United Oil is endorsed by prestigious vehicle manufacturers BMW, Porsche, VW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo Car & Truck and MTU (Detroit Diesel).

"We are thrilled that United Oil have come on board for the end of the season and hope to do well in the 50 lapper for them." Smee said "We didn't get the results we wanted last weekend, but the car felt good, so we hope to put on a first-class show and get up the front next time round."

With American engine builder Joe Fontana in town, the team were ready to compete using the NSW Speedcar clubs handicapped grids. With previous results setting the fastest from the rear handicapping, Nathan was positioned off the rear in both rounds of heats. Suffering fuel problems in the opening laps of the first heat, Smee returned to the pits to stop the free flow. Out again only a short time later, racing on a fast and heavy track, Nathan worked his way up to 7th position before the chequered flag fell.

Missing the qualifying 16 car inversion, Nathan was due to start from position 17 in the A main feature. Taking the greens and utilising both the high and the low line, Nathan had worked his way up to 11th position before another car became unstuck through turns one and two. As the cars connected, it was the Terry King Stealth which came off second best. Sticking low to exit onto the infield and safely keeping out of his fellow racers way; Nathan slowed but continued around the track before coming to rest before the start/finish line. Towed back to the pits, it wasn't the result the team were looking for but a good test before the final race meeting on the 28th of April.
