Nathan Smee is back! Yes, after much anticipation Nathan Smee Racing have debuted their brand new Spike/Fontana Speedcar #6 at Victoria's Avalon Raceway. Travelling south after the washed out meeting at their local track, it was the second round of the national Speedcar Super Series where the new race package would first take to the speedway.

With new gear all round in 07-08 after purchasing a Spike chassis in the off season; engine owners Terry & Debbie King of Dominator Engines also returned for another season supplying their new Fontana Engine for another Speedcar assault, "We're happy to be involved in Nathan's race team," said Terry "we had 3 wins last season and it wouldn't hurt to put a few more on the board for Fontana this year either."

Qualifying for the A main feature race after his two heat races, the green flag dropped for another ultra competitive event. With tight racing expected across the field, the contest was soon underway with 20 of the best vying for the podium! With a stoppage marring the race early on, the drivers retook their single file grids with Nathan in a midfield position.

Lap after lap, the unyielding race continued until a clash of wheels caused havoc on the circuit. Heading into turn 3 on the preferred low line track, a Speedcar began to spin moving directly onto the racing line in front of oncoming traffic; one car driven by Nathan.

Unable to avoid contact without rolling himself or others out of the raceway, Nathan tagged the rear of the spinning car allowing the two faster cars by avoiding any damage. Slowing down for the caution, the drivers were instructed back into their race positions, unfortunately, with Nathan sent to the rear of the field after controversially being deemed the primary cause of the accident!

Knowing another objectionable decision had been applied, the spectators were now firmly on NSR's side, cheering the 6 machine from last position. The outside moves lit up the crowd and the television crew alike with the United Oil Spike/Fontana later featuring prominently on Foxtel's national Chequered Flag program.

A race was now on! With most drivers hugging the low line, it was the Nathan Smee Racing Speedcar sweeping around cars to gain valuable ground on the front runners!

Running out of racing laps but still able to finish an honourable 7th place from 20 starters, it was an electrifying drive off the rear and something the entire team could be proud of.

The 07-08 NSR show has begun! Remember to head to the pits and check out Speedcar #6!
