NSR PR
In front of his local crowd
and loyal fan base, Nathan Smee has claimed back to back Boxing
Night victories at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway by winning
yesterdays 20-Lap Speedcar Feature!
Conquering the same race one
year earlier, this season not only has Nathan
obtained his first win for the
07-08 season, he has once again added his name to the
illustrious Australian Speedcar history books as the first
driver to win at TPCR using a Spike Chassis!
With rear of
fields starts in the fastest to the rear handicapped grid,
Nathan's campaign to the front began. Progressing from 9th
position to 5th in heat one, and from 10th to 1st in heat two, a
feature victory looked to be insight with the NSR Speedcar
finely attuned to the track.

Starting the fastest to the rear inverted feature, Nathan began
his skirmish for the podium. Running wheel to wheel at the top
of the highline, Nathan had successfully moved up to secure 5th
position on the opening lap!
Remaining on
the daring TPCR highline, the pursuit for the leader had begun.
Running a smooth racing line around the circuit, Nathan swept by
his competitors down the back straight and gained on the leader.
Making his move out of turn two, a
fantastic battle developed for the lead.
Tight and close, the two drivers
battled it out side by side through turns three and four, both
men pushing their cars to the limit. Nathan drove high, too high
in fact, hitting the
loose dirt heading into turn two and dropped back to 7th! With
16 laps remaining the fight was not over with Nathan retaking to
the racing line before the yellows were displayed around the
raceway. As luck would have it, a car had spun, which in turn,
re-instated Nathan into the lead!

Re-starting the race high through
turn four, Nathan pulled away from the field before moving low
to protect his leading position. With another stoppage a lap
later, Smee once again pulled away down the main straight on the
restart gaining an entire main straight lead over the next five
laps. With another stoppage for rollovers a few laps later, the
NSR car remained untouchable on the night. Maintaining the lead
position, the chequers fell on the 20 lap race with Nathan
capturing his first victory for 2007-2008!
"Everything just seemed to work
our way on the night", said an elated team member "we hadn't
left one thing untouched on the car so it was great to see it
pay off."

"We've had some
problems on and off the track over the last few race meetings,
so it's great to be back in
this spot," Nathan said, "Everyone works
hard to be at the pointy end and it makes it worthwhile when you have a good race night."
"This win is for all the people who helped me over the last year,
my team, family and friends. I just can't thank them enough."

"It will be a
pretty hectic time over the next month or so when we run the Midget and
the Sprintcar" said an enthusiastic Nathan.
"There are
important race meetings coming up on our schedule so we'll be
travelling all over the country again to race. We have nominated
for the Australian Sprintcar Championships at Parramatta, then later in
February we fly back to Perth for the Australian Speedcar
Championship."
NSR would like
to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Remember
to head to the pits in 2008 and check out Speedcar #6!.
